We’ve been building up to this moment for the last few weeks and we’re thrilled to finally share the big reveal! The Design= Curriculum Kit is the ultimate tool for educators, professionals, and mentors to ignite creativity and fully immerse students in design.
Why a design curriculum now? DxD is committed to building a more inclusive and diverse design profession and it starts by engaging our youth. The Design= Curriculum Kit was created to reach Black and Brown students where they are. The kit is a free, accessible, all-in-one resource to introduce high school youth to the power of design and its career potential.
So, what’s included? For educators and professionals, there are over 3 hours of training and orientation materials. The content was created with educators and youth in mind, so no prior design experience is needed! The kit is jam-packed with lessons, worksheets, examples, and videos to help support educators and students on their design learning journey.
For students, the fully immersive program is delivered across 9 lessons. Students will tackle a design challenge and learn skills like teamwork, creative problem solving, prototyping, researching, interviewing, and design thinking. While each lesson is about an hour, the curriculum is flexible and can be modified by educators to best fit their schedule or the needs of their classroom.
But that’s not all! One of the best parts of the curriculum kit is the Design= Community, which provides additional resources, videos, and the ability to network and co-create with other educators. The online community allows educators to feel supported, while providing a space to connect and engage with the larger community.
The Design= curriculum wouldn’t be possible without the support and contributions of our incredible partners: DxD Advisory Council members, Amazon, YWCA National Capital Area, and Breakthrough Cincinnati Inc. We can’t thank you enough!
There’s more to come of course! Stay tuned to DxD’s social channels as we share classroom successes from students and educators diving into the curriculum.
