Diversify by Design (DxD) is pleased to announce that Antionette D. Carroll, a distinguished leader in the field of design, social impact, and social entrepreneurship, has joined our Advisory Council. Antionette brings with her an impressive track record of being a co-designer and pioneer of the emerging field of equity design, spurring greater innovation in the creative field and design industry.
Antionette is the founder of Creative Reaction Lab (CRXLAB) and the Institute of Equitable Design and Justice, where she currently serves as President and CEO. She is widely recognized for her pioneering work in Equity-Centered Community Design™ (ECCD™), a framework that has been acknowledged as a Fast Company World Changing Idea Finalist in Urban Design and General Excellence.
Throughout her career, Antionette has received numerous accolades for her work. She has been named a PepsiCo and Doritos Solid Black Changemaker, an Aspen Institute Civil Society Fellow, an Echoing Green Global Fellow, a TED Fellow, and an ADCOLOR Innovator. Her leadership has been consistently recognized, including her inclusion in Essence Magazine’s Woke 100 list.
Antionette's contributions extend beyond her entrepreneurial endeavors. She has served as a National Board Director and St. Louis Chapter President for AIGA, where she launched several key initiatives, including the Design Census Program in collaboration with Google and the Racial Justice by Design Initiative. Her leadership in these roles has made a significant impact on the design community by advocating for racial equity and inclusivity.
In addition to her professional achievements, Antionette has remained actively involved in mentoring the next generation of design leaders. She began her journey as the inaugural fellow of the Katherine Dunham Fellowship in 2011 and currently serves as the President and CEO (Founder) at Creative Reaction Lab, further illustrating her long-standing dedication to empowering future leaders in design.
Antionette’s extensive experience in civic design and equity is also reflected in her work with city governments through the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University. Her commitment to reshaping the role of design in public service aligns closely with DxD’s mission to promote diversity and inclusion within the industry.
