We’re thrilled to recap the success of our Educator Design Workshop held on September 12th in Culver City, where we partnered with Amazon to host a powerful day of professional development, learning, and engagement. Educators from across Los Angeles came together to dive into the world of design, exploring how design thinking and creative careers can shape their students' futures.
Working alongside 11 Amazon designers from various disciplines, the educators kicked off the day by participating in a mini design challenge, allowing them to experience the design process firsthand. This was followed by a panel discussion with four Amazon designers, offering insights into their careers and expertise. Educators then had the opportunity to explore the Design= curriculum and concluded the day by developing tactical plans to implement the curriculum in their own classrooms. 100% of attendees shared positive feedback, particularly valuing the direct interactions with professional designers and the opportunity to engage in real-world design challenges.
This workshop was a part of our ongoing commitment to bringing diversity, creativity, and new perspectives to the design industry. As with all our events, the goal was clear: to provide educators with the tools to inspire their students, showing them that design is a viable career path, especially for young people of color.
We are proud to work with partners like Amazon, who share our mission to create more inclusive opportunities within the design field. And, as always, we look forward to continuing our efforts to inspire and uplift future designers.
