Meet Belinda Moreira.
First-gen Latina, coalition builder, education advocate, social justice warrior.
Belinda is deeply committed to educational equity, and community empowerment. Having grown up in and working with underserved and historically marginalized communities has profoundly shaped her perspective; solidifying her passion for education, advocacy, and creating meaningful change.
Her stats are more than impressive: Georgetown University, BA; Teach for America Alum, DC Region; Rice University, MBA. Indeed!
For a greater part of the last decade Belinda has dedicated herself to community organizing, gaining invaluable experience in community engagement and coalition building. She’s worked extensively and collaboratively with school districts, nonprofits, grassroots organizations, and community-based agencies to develop effective advocacy and engagement strategies that uplift communities and provide greater, more equitable opportunities for young people and educators. Skills, strengths and lived experience that will certainly contribute to Diversify by Design’s goal to create a more just and equitable design industry!
As DxD’s Education Program Manager, Belinda will be heading up two of the coalition’s signature programs, Design= and DxD Intensives. Both Design= and Intensives were developed to bridge gaps in design education—from exposure to design and its potential career paths, to leveling the playing field in higher ed for historically excluded design students.
She’s already in the thick of expanding the reach and scale of the Design= Curriculum Kit, to both educators and their students across the country. And she’s getting up to speed on DxD’s Intensives program to bring real-world design challenges, networking opportunities, and potential internships to design students at MSIs and HBCUs.
Belinda is THE right person to lead DxD’s education programming and we can’t wait to share her successes with the greater DxD community as they come. So Stay Tuned.
Welcome aboard Belinda!
